Suitability for dental implants will be determined in the clinical assessment. If you have good general health then dental implants will probably be an option for you. However, habits such as smoking (and this includes e-cigarettes, chewing tobacco, nicotine patches / lozenges / gum), heavy drinking or recreational drugs do decrease implant integration success rates.
These lifestyle habits also increase the number of healing-related issues and adversely affect the the long-term gum and bone health surrounding the implants. Any remaining natural teeth are also likely to be compromised, making treatment planning difficult to predict.
If you have any other medical problems,tell us during your initial consultation – it is rare to have health problems that preclude a patient from having dental implants.
